San Francisco Giants Have Brutal Jung Hoo Lee Update
Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is the latest from the position group to suffer an injury. It was a rough weekend for the team from an injury standpoint, as they lost an outfielder to injury in every game against the Cincinnati Reds.

First, it was Austin Slater, who was dealing with concussion symptoms on Friday. On Saturday, Michael Conforto injured his hamstring while running the bases. On Sunday, hours after Conforto was placed on the injured list, Jung Hoo Lee suffered a shoulder injury while banging into the wall attempting to make a catch.

Early reports on what Lee is dealing with are not positive. As shared by ESPN, he is dealing with structural damage to his shoulder and is seeking a second opinion to determine what the next steps should be.

On Monday, the San Francisco Giants placed him on the 10-day IL, but it sounds as if he is going to be sidelined much longer than that. Dr. Neal ElAttrache saw him on Tuesday in Los Angeles after an MRI initially revealed the damage.

“Once he gets to ElAttrache we’ll have a timeline,” Giants manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday. “We’re getting a second opinion to make sure we have all our T’s crossed and I’s dotted.”

Jung Hoo Lee was one of the major additions that the San Francisco Giants made this offseason. A superstar in the KBO League, Lee signed a six-year, $113 million deal as a free agent this past offseason.

As he adjusts to MLB pitching, Lee has hit .262 with two home runs and eight RBI, recording an OPS of .641. While the bat is still coming around, he has provided the team with elite defense in center field.

Along with the tough news about Lee, the team also announced that catcher Patrick Bailey is heading back to the seven-day concussion list. He came off of it on Saturday after spending a week away from the team. But, things must not have progressed, as the Giants are now without four key members of their lineup due to injury.
